I was recently asked by Xavier Burgin to edit a short film that he’d shot that he wanted to enter into a contest. He told me first place was nearly $15,000 in prizes so I quickly agreed.
The project, called “Broken Reality”, is a short film that documents the behind the scenes action of the production of a series of artistic photographs. The theme is derived from a response to the devastation of the April 27 tornado outbreak in Tuscaloosa earlier this year. The video follows the process of finding and shooting on location and then working in a studio to shoot a subject separately before combining the two in post.
I’m a big fan of digital manipulation and creative photography, so I really enjoyed working on this piece. Plus, the footage I was given was so well shot that the whole thing really came together on its own and looked great from the start.
